Dealers report used equipment pricing improved during the fourth quarter of 2020. Results from Stifel’s fourth quarter dealer survey show used combine pricing improved 1.8% year-over-year on a weighted average basis in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Based on the results of their first quarter 2020 survey of North American ag equipment dealers, analysts from investment banker Stifel say dealers are expressing less optimism about their prospects to improve sales compared to the fourth quarter of 2019.

More ag equipment dealers believe the cold, wet weather that resulted in later than normal planting season, or prevented planting altogether, had a bigger impact on their business this year than did the ongoing trade wars. But both clearly impacted ag machinery sales in the past year in the eyes of the dealers.
Following a visit to John Deere’s new Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, during the last week of May, Stanley Elliott, analyst with Stifel, says he sees opportunities with “Deere working to monetize its data platform as well as commercialize technologies acquired in the Blue River deal.”
