Spinning Off On-Highway Segment is Only Part of CNHI’s Longer Term Plan

While the news that CNH Industrial plans to split the company into two distinct business segments — off-highway and on-highway — garnered the most attention, its ambitions for its agricultural segment will bear close watching for Ag Equipment Intelligence readers. Off-highway will include the company’s ag, construction and specialty vehicle business. The on-highway company will be comprised of its trucking, commercial buses and vehicles and powertrain operations.

CNHI to Separate 'On-Highway' and 'Off-Highway' Assets, Acquires AgDNA

Under the ‘Transform 2 Win’ strategy, CNH Industrial will reduce operating costs and increase the efficiency of its asset base through targeted restructuring actions and other charges condensed into an efficiency program and certain other initiatives including the 80/20 simplification process, initiated in Q4 2018. Full implementation is expected by the end of 2022. Pre-tax charges associated with this efficiency program in the remainder of 2019 and through 2022 are expected to be between $450 and $500 million.

Ag Equipment Intelligence to Launch New Shortline Equipment Manufacturers’ Survey

Ag Equipment Intelligence will launch its newest program for the farm equipment industry with a quarterly survey of ag shortline/specialty equipment manufacturers. The purpose of this new study is to determine business conditions and trends in a segment of industry that receives little attention, despite its significant innovations and contributions to the farm machinery business. The project will kick off in mid-September.
