The Nigerian government has disclosed John Deere intends to open a tractor assembly plant in Nigeria, according to an Oct. 31 report from Nairametrics

John Deere Vice President of Production Systems, Small Ag & Turf Jason Brantley stated the new plant would not require government assistance, but "instead, it calls for credit guarantees to facilitate access to affordable credit for individuals or groups interested in this endeavor," the report said.

John Deere currently has 2 locations in Africa: an ag & turf marketing facility in Boksburg, South Africa and a regional parts distribution center in Johannesburg, South Africa.
