Two-store Dutch Claas dealer Reitman Hasselt announced March 14 it has exited the large ag equipment business. The press release cited staff shortages and an uncertain agricultural market as reasons the company is leaving the large ag equipment business.

The dealership said it will honor existing orders and sell parts while supplies last. The dealership will remain in the lawn and garden and OPE segments.

According to the March update to the CEMA General Business Climate Index, European agricultural machinery industry continues to decline. The index decreased from –52 to –55 points, hitting one of its lowest points since 2014. According to the survey results from that update, current business is now worse than it has been for more than 7 years. Only 8% of industry representatives considered the current business situation to be favorable and 67% expected their total revenue to be down in the next 6 months.
