According to reports from ETAuto, both Mahindra and Sonalika Tractor reported a sharp increase in domestic tractor sales in August. Mahindra reported 23,503 domestic tractor sales in August, up 69% year-over-year from 13,871 units moved in August 2019. Exports came in at 955 units, up 1% from 946 in August 2019.

Hemant Sikka, president - Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “On the back of the highest ever sales in July, we have clocked yet another highest-ever sale in August. The tractor industry growth continues to remain strong in August. We expect rural sentiments to remain positive and translate into robust tractor demand."

Sonalika Tractor reported domestic sales up 80% in August, moving 8,205 units compared to 4,560 in the same period last year. According to Sonalika, the company has surpassed the industry growth of 73% in August 2020, riding on the high demand for tractors.

Commenting on the sales performance, Raman Mittal, executive director, Sonalika Group, said, “I am very proud to share that in August we have recorded our highest ever domestic growth of 80% with overall sales at 10,206 tractors, making it the fourth consecutive month for us to have achieved a new record high & beating estimated industry growth of 73%."
