How Will Ag Markets, Machinery Be Impacted By Storms? Katrina Points to Tractor Boost

Immediately after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, Ag Equipment Intelligence considered what the farm equipment business might learn from the August 2005 disaster, Hurricane Katrina, that devastated the coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi.

As part of that effort, Charlie Glass of Arlington, Texas-based Glass Management Group analyzed USDA’s 5 year Ag Census data for the two states and confirmed that Hurricane Katrina caused a spike in sales of tractor and harvesting equipment in those states.
