January WASDE Viewed as a ‘Positive’ for Ag Equipment

In his annual message, John Deere’s Chairman, Sam Allen, described the company’s long-term prospects as “bullish,” but added, “We don’t mean to minimize the challenges we’re facing at the present time … there are signs that some of our key markets may be approaching a bottom, but we are not anticipating a turnaround in 2017.”

Supply and demand is alive and well in the U.S. agricultural economy. Harvest of U.S. crops has begun and brings with it a great expectation of a record yields. Like a huge seesaw, high demand for a commodity elevates the prices customers are willing to pay for that product and when there is an excess worldwide inventory, prices fall to meet the slowing demand.
