A John Deere dealership in Le Mars (Iowa) is seeking city support in a planned relocation. A development agreement with ICON Ag Solutions, with 5 locations in Iowa, may be approved Tuesday by the Le Mars City Council during its regular noon meeting.

According to the planned agreement, ICON Ag will buy land and build a new building on 15 acres in the 1800 block of Key Avenue in fiscal years 2010-2011.

The building project will likely be finished by June 30, 2011.

The city will build a 12-inch water main extension from the intersection of 200th Street and Key Avenue to 195th Street, plus an 8-inch sanitary sewer extension along the same route. The city will buy 1 acre of land from ICON Ag to serve as a recreation trail head in the northwest corner of ICON Ag's land.

The city would also authorize a 5-year industrial property tax exemption once buildings are completed five years. The exemption will start at 75% for the first year and decrease by 15% each of the next 4 years.

The city will also allow ICON Ag to borrow soil for the building project from the Le Mars Industrial Park, Second Addition.
