According to the most recent USDA crop progress report, some 10% of corn crops were reported silking as of the week ended July 4, above the 9% reported silking in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn silking in the week was 14%.

Around 50% of corn crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 14% in "excellent" condition and 27% in "fair condition."

The report stated 29% of soybeans were blooming in the same week, in line the 29% reported blooming in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybean blooming in this week was 24%.

Some 3% of soybeans were reportedly setting pods, above the 2% reported setting pods in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybeans setting pods in this week was 3%.

Some 49% of soybean crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 10% in "excellent" condition and 30% in "fair condition."
