According to a report from Reuters, CNH Industrial will include its defense and special vehicle business segments in the On-Highway portion of its planned business spin-off, contrary to its original plan. CNH Industrial's defense and special vehicle business segments include heavy duty trucks for mining and fire fighting vehicles.

According to the report, "Some analysts estimate the combined sales amount [of CNH Industrial's defense and special vehicle business] to around 8% of CNH’s total revenues, which stood at $26 billion last year."

The report added that including the defense and special vehicle portions in the On-Highway segment "would simplify the spin-off process and speed it up, helping the group to meet its deadline."

Reuters' source also said the company was "planning to keep the defense business as a separate company within the group to be spun off."

In September 2019, CNH Industrial announced a new 5-year plan, which included the separation of its on-highway and off-highway segments.
