Ag Equipment Intelligence will launch its newest program for the farm equipment industry with a quarterly survey of ag shortline/specialty equipment manufacturers. The purpose of this new study is to determine business conditions and trends in a segment of industry that receives little attention, despite its significant innovations and contributions to the farm machinery business. The project will kick off in mid-September.

Ag Equipment Intelligence, together with Farm Equipment magazine, has long been the primary source of data, trends and news impacting the farm equipment business. The new shortline/specialty equipment survey has been developed to fill an information vacuum that has never been filled.

“We have a long track record of honoring confidentiality and anonymity in our survey work,” says Dave Kanicki, editor & publisher of Ag Equipment Intelligence. “Since 2005, we have surveyed North American farm equipment dealers and published the results in our annual Dealer Business Outlook & Trends report. Since 2011, we have polled North American ag equipment dealers in our monthly Dealer Sentiments & Business Conditions Update survey and showed the results for a better understanding of industry conditions while maintaining the dealers’ trust.

“Our goal is to provide the same important information for and about our shortline and specialty equipment manufacturers by establishing a credible baseline of data and pinpointing important trends in this essential segment of our industry,” he says.

The survey will be sent to equipment manufacturers in mid-September and following tabulation of the results, a full report will be issued in mid-October.

Ag Equipment Intelligence is partnering with Institutional Equities Research firm, Robert W. Baird, in this project. The two groups have had a working relationship for more than a decade.

The survey results will be available only to Ag Equipment Intelligence subscribers and to the shortline equipment manufacturers that respond to the survey.
