Scotts Tractor & Equipment of Smithville, Mo., has recently been purchased by Coleman Equipment in Bonner Springs, Kan. Located just east of the 169 & 92 highway intersection,  Scott’s has been a progressive dealer for Kubota tractors, Scag and Exmark mowers and Stihl power products for over 13 years.

Coleman Equipment is a family owned and operated business specializing in providing equipment, rental, parts and service to the light construction, suburban farm and grounds maintenance business for over 70 years. Coleman’s major lines are Case CE and Kubota along with a wide variety of attachments made by Land Pride, Stanley, Stihl, Paladin, Redi-Haul and other quality manufacturers. They are actively involved in E-Commerce and through their website — www.colemanequip.com — the dealership is able to market parts and equipment nationwide.

All of the staff at Scott’s Tractor has made the move to Coleman. Scott Kolbeck, owner of Scott’s Tractor, has accepted the position of Coleman Equipment corporate sales manager. John Walker, salesman and assistant manager at Scotts for 13 years, has accepted the position of store manager for the Smithville location. This should allow for a smooth and seamless transition. Customers used to dealing with the staff at Scott’s Tractor can rely on the same people providing outstanding service in the future.

As part of the acquisition, Coleman also purchased O’Dell Tractor Co. in Independence, Mo. O’dell Tractor has been a Kubota dealer for over 40 years and provides an outstanding opportunity for Coleman to serve Jackson County.

Putting the three companies together allows Coleman to expand their Kubota construction equipment business and capture a larger share of the tractor and commercial mowing business in the total Kansas City Metropolitan area.
