During the past month, Brazil announced its 2019-20 Crop Plan, a subsidy program aimed at mitigating production risks for the country’s farmers. The total value announced was R$225.3 billion (roughly $59.2 billion). The set-aside payments allows for R$169.3 billion for cost, commercialization and processing; R$53.4 billion for investments; R$1 billion for rural insurance; and R$1.85 billion for direct acquisition of products from producers.
