A groundbreaking ceremony for MacDon was held at Sun Prairie Business Park in Sun Prairie, Wis. on March 27. According to the Sun Prairie Star, the project includes an approximately 15,000 square foot research and development facility related to the manufacturing of high performance agricultural harvesting equipment. The new facility will open in fall of 2019.

MacDon has been manufacturing harvesting equipment for over 70 years and started in Winnipeg, Man. The company first came into the Madison, Wis., area in 2015 and has grown its presence since. The company’s growth plan over the next 5 years will add up to 20 jobs in the Madison area.

The company has offices in Canada, the U.S., Australia, Russia, Brazil and Germany. MacDon was acquired in February 2018 by Linamar, a global manufacturer of light metal castings, forgings, industrial and agricultural equipment based in Ontario, Canada.

Linamar has more than 28,600 employees in 60 manufacturing locations, 8 R&D centers and 25 sales offices in 17 countries in North and South America, Europe and Asia, which generated sales of $6.5 billion in 2017.
